Hey everybody! So sorry to be such a silent one on ye ole Sheezy, but I've had soooooo much to do that I seldom find the time to be on the computer anymore. I do want to mention a few things though, and here they are:
1. I have made a new website for myself! Yeah! I have to give myself a little back-pattery on this, since I had to learn Dreamweaver all by myself! Whew! I'm not going to even pretend that I know it all, either. However, I did figure out enough to get a pretty decent looking site up - if I do say so myself. Credit also goes to my good friend Eva, who so generously let me share server space with her... and helped me get it working online! Her website is http://evaorduno.com. So go check out my new site and let me know what you think! I've also set up a blog link there... that I will eventually be more active on... as soon as I build up more of an audience - haha. here's the address - http://jenniferkearney.com
2. I am about to be taken on as a probationary artist with Wizards of the Coast. For those (few) who may not know who they are... they make the card game Magic the Gathering, they own D&D (Dungeons & Dragons), they publish books of fantasy, etc. I met with WOTC rep's in San Diego while I was at the ComicCon last July. I've been in touch with them ever since, and just recently was informed of my imminent probationary status! They are super cool (the people and their products), so be sure to check them out as well!
3. I will be pulling myself off of Sheezy soon - soon being January 2009. This isn't because I don't enjoy all of you, but it is merely in an effort to consolidate my time. I'm feeling a bit stretched beyond my limits, and so I'm going to put most of my efforts into posting and reading comments on my blog... come January '09. So please add my website to your favorites list!
I am available for hire. Illustratin' that is.

So... a little about me, well, I'm currently a senior undergrad at the University of Arizona School of Art, in Tucson, AZ. I'm a double-major in the (very competitive) VisCom program - illustration track, as well as Art History. I'm very honored and priviledged to have as my mentor the wonderful and witty, David Christiana - a highly acclaimed children's book author and illustrator. (His most recent work is for Disney Publishing titled: "Fairy Dust & the Quest for the Egg," and "Fairy Dust & the Quest for the Wand" - they're beautifully illustrated, so check 'em out! I actually had the awesome pleasure of being invited out to Disney Studios last November. I got to meet with several art directors and artists, got a private tour of their "Imagineering Studio" as well as their Studio lot- it was all very positive and cool! Work-wise, I'm currently illustrating a third children's book for a local author. The first two I've done are still pending for publishment (is that a word - publishment?) Hopefully they'll be released soon so that I can direct everyone to go and get a copy! Anyway, aside from the many demands of school and freelancing (all that boring stuff is posted on my eportfolio site in my resume, if you are interested in reading even more than you have already), I've been working on beefing up my portfolio so that I can submit it to several publishers, as well as Wizards of the Coast (for their Magic: The Gathering card game). Graduation is in sight and quickly approaching! Now that I've taken several minutes of your time that you'll never get back (mua, ha, ha, haaa!), you should go look at my art - it's more fun!

Yeah, that's Jack Sparrow. (though it turns out that he is actually a she) We found her as a little naked chick who had fallen out of a very high nest in our tree. She also had that Easter basket filler wrapped tightly around one of her legs. We thought for sure that she was going to lose her leg, or die... or both. But she's a little fighter, and so as we fed her, she kept getting bigger, and stronger, and grew feathers, etc., etc. We tried to set her free several times, but she kept coming back. Long story short, we've had her for almost three years now. :)
